fossil
collection

This is a selection of millenary marsh wood (oak, elm, ash), dating back from 1,500 to 8,200 years ago, and recovered from peat bogs, swamps and riverbeds in Northern Europe.
The fossilisation process that takes place in the subsoil gives the wood unique and unrepeatable natural colours, with shades ranging from brown-gold to deep black, resulting from the interaction of wood tannins dissolved in acid water with the minerals present in the soil.
